Whatever Party celebrates your healthy habits. It is built so that your health data stays on your device and under your control. Your health data is never sent to us, and we cannot see it. We run one small service, described under Community challenges below, which counts anonymous challenge sightings and nothing else.
With your permission, Whatever Party reads sleep, exercise minutes, mindful minutes, flights climbed, and workouts (including their heart rate and calories) from Apple Health. This data is processed entirely on your device to decide when to throw you a celebration. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party, never used for advertising, and never sold. You can revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
If you use the food party feature, photos are analyzed on your device using Apple's on-device Vision framework. Photos are not uploaded to us. If you are in a crew, the win a snap earns is posted to your crew automatically — photo included — through iCloud as described below; the camera screen says so whenever that is about to happen. Not in a crew, photos never leave your phone.
If you create or join a Party Crew, the app stores crew data in iCloud using Apple's CloudKit: your chosen party name and avatar, the fact that you met one of your goals (which goal, and the day — never the measurement behind it), any food photos attached to wins you share, and hype reactions. Your health numbers are not part of this. Your goals are set by you in the app and are not shared either, so "met their sleep goal" tells your crew you finished something you set yourself, not how long you slept. This data lives in the crew owner's personal iCloud storage and is shared only with the people invited to that crew. It never passes through any server of ours and we have no ability to read it. Leaving a crew, or the owner deleting it, removes your access; the crew owner can delete the crew's data entirely from their iCloud.
Please note: anyone holding a crew's invite link can join it, and everyone in a crew can see which goals you met and any food photos you shared. Only send an invite to people you're comfortable celebrating with. You can block a crewmate, report a post, delete your own wins, or leave a crew at any time from the Crew screen.
Challenges are things to go and look at — a pumpkin in October, a dog, the sky. Each challenge shows how many the whole community has logged. That number is the only thing we run a server for.
When you log a challenge sighting, your phone sends two things to whateverparty.app: the challenge's name (for example pumpkin) and a random token that is created on your device the first time you open the app and hashed before it is sent. That token is not your Apple Account, not your crew identity, not your device's identifier, and is not connected to anything else in the app or on this site. It exists only so that one phone cannot inflate a public number on its own, and the server deletes it two days after your last sighting — only the plain totals remain.
We do not receive the photo, the time, your location, your name, your goals, or any health data — only that some anonymous install logged one sighting of one challenge. Photos for challenges are analyzed entirely on your device, exactly as food photos are, and stay there — unless you are in a crew, in which case the win posts to your crew with its photo, automatically, exactly as food wins do. The community number itself is a plain total: it is never turned into a ranking, and there is no leaderboard.
Challenges work with this turned off. Switch off “Count my sightings” in the app's Vibe tab and nothing is sent at all: sightings still count on your device, the celebration still happens, and you still see the community's number. The same is true if your phone is offline or the service is unavailable — the app simply doesn't show a community number until it can fetch one.
Party Pass and Party Crew are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Purchases are shareable with up to five family members through Apple Family Sharing.
Celebrations and crew notifications are delivered using local notifications and Apple's push infrastructure. Notification content is generated on your device or from your crew's shared iCloud data as described above.
Whatever Party keeps simple usage counters (like how many celebrations fired) locally on your device. It also sends an anonymous usage funnel to TelemetryDeck, which we use to understand how the app is used — for example, how many people reach a celebration, or which screen someone was on when a paid offer appeared.
What is sent: a randomly generated install identifier that is not linked to you or to any account, the name of the event, a timestamp rounded to the hour, and basic app and device information such as app version, operating system version and device model. For commerce events it also sends which product was involved, which screen the offer came from, and how a purchase attempt ended — each drawn from a short fixed list of allowed values.
TelemetryDeck does not store IP addresses.
This is off unless you turn it on. Analytics is opt-in: nothing is sent until you switch on “Share anonymous usage” in the app's Vibe tab. Switching it back off stops collection immediately and shuts the provider down for that session — you do not need to reinstall, and you are never asked again.
TelemetryDeck processes these signals only on our instructions, as our data processor, under a contract requiring protection equivalent to what this policy describes. They do not use the data for their own purposes.
Retention and deletion. Signals are stored for as long as the app's analytics account exists. Because the install identifier is random and is not linked to you, an account, or any device identifier, we usually cannot find “your” signals in order to delete them individually — that unlinkability is the point of collecting it this way. If you want your data removed, email hello@whateverparty.app and we will delete what can be identified, and can delete the whole analytics dataset on request.
What is never sent: your health data, the categories or values of any health metric, your goals or thresholds, your photos, your name, anything about your crew, your challenge evidence, any text you have typed, error messages, and any advertising identifier. The app builds each signal from a fixed vocabulary rather than filtering data on its way out, so there is no path by which those could be included.
No ads. No tracking across apps or websites. Nothing is ever sold, and nothing is shared for anyone else's marketing. No accounts. Two services receive anything at all: the anonymous community challenge counter described above, and — only if you switch it on — TelemetryDeck, which processes anonymous usage signals on our behalf and for no other purpose. Neither can be tied to a person.
Whatever Party is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
